Dearest Lord, our hearts rejoice in the living God. Consider with compassion our injured world and our anxious hearts. Bless us with the grace and glory of your spirit, that we might find peace in our times.

Happy are those who put their trust in you.

Dearest Lord, happy are the people whose strength is in you. Set our hearts on the pilgrim’s way, that your church might complete your work of love in the world.

Happy are those who put their trust in you.

Dearest Lord, one day in your courts is better than a thousand in our own rooms. Be especially with our representatives in Congress as they determine the future of our great nation.

Happy are those who put their trust in you.

Dearest Lord, you are both sun and shield for the suffering. Be with our brothers and sisters around the world who long for food, safety, shelter, clean water, health, and justice. We will not forget them in our prayers and our giving.

Happy are those who put their trust in you.

Dearest Lord, the sparrow has found her a house, and the swallow a nest where she may lay her young. We rejoice in the earth that nourishes body and soul. Be especially with the homeless and injured animals of fire-scorched Australia, and those who minister to them in love.

Happy are those who put their trust in you.

Dearest Lord, we ask your merciful attention to our brothers and sisters who find themselves in the desolate valleys of pain, injury, sadness, confusion, addiction and desperation. We ask for your abiding attention to the departed and those who grieve them. We pray for your compassionate embrace of those we now name, silently and aloud (pause), including those on our parish prayer list:

Happy are those who put their trust in you.

Presider: Dearest Lord, happy are those who dwell in your house. For they will always be praising you. Amen.
