Once again, in 2013, we had a great turnout and event. The Episcopal Church, one more time, showed its rainbow colors. Though many, we truly are one as we share one bread and one cup and as we march for justice and dignity. Let’s do it again this year-big time. Let’s gather to walk together and celebrate our church as a truly welcoming and compassionate community of faith. Integrity Puget Sound has registered us, and everyone is invited to participate.
All you need to know: email the coordinator if you or a group from your parish will be participating. The route is the same as last year: 4th Avenue from Union to Seattle Center. Similar to last year, we will gather at 11:30 AM, celebrate the Eucharist at noon and then begin to walk in early afternoon. Our line up spot was several blocks south of the start line, so it took a while for the march to unfold to the point where we started walking. We will provide banners and placards, but encourage each parish to walk with its own parish banner. We also encourage clergy to march in clericals.
Dioscesan coordinator: Deacon Earl Grout from St. Mark’s will coordinate this year’s Episcopal contingent as he did in 2012.
Please pass the word in your parish, and please email Deacon Earl atdeaconeg@gmail.com if you or your parish will be participating in the parade. Please give him an idea of how many to expect from your parish and if any plan to bring family or friends. Please do this as soon as possible. If you have questions, please contact Earl either by email or phone at 206-518-2833.
He will let you know when and where to meet as soon as the parade officials let us know our place in the line-up. He will also let you know where and when the pre-parade Eucharist will be celebrated.
Let’s be present again this year, and show our colors as joyful and proud Episcopalians who know the meaning of hospitality and the wide embrace of God’s love.
