Participants receive five-year certification upon completion of the training modules.

Safeguarding God’s People focuses on preventing sexual harassment and sexual exploitation of church workers. Training and certification required of the following: all active clergy, including deacons, stipendiary priests, non-stipendiary or retired priests who are regularly serving in congregations 10 hours or more per week, and all TCM circles (both ordained and commissioned); monastic groups, all employees of congregations, including employees of preschools, schools and counseling centers; all lay persons whose ministry might involve them meeting one on one or two on one with persons to whom they minister, including, but not limited to Eucharistic Visitors and Stephen Ministers; and vestries and bishop’s committees will also be asked to have at least one-third of its members certified in this training at any time
