O Lord, our world is often a wilderness of temptation in which we are pulled this way and that, away from you. Instruct us in the way we should go, so like Christ in the desert, the angels will attend us.

O Lord, like Adam and Even in the garden, we are often tempted by the apple of human wisdom. Let us seek not wisdom in our own understanding of good and evil, but in the loving example of your precious son, Jesus.

O Lord, we are assaulted by many temptations, particularly those of power and wealth. Help us to resist our appetites for worldly reward and riches. Instead, teach us to seek nourishment in the bread of heaven.

O Lord, help us to be spirits without guile. In times of troubles, let us turn not to our own devices but to you in prayer, so that we may know the mercy that comes from trust in the Lord.

O Lord, you gave us a garden called earth to till and keep so that it might feed us freely. We have failed your trust. We have not kept the garden as you asked us. Let us no longer sin against the natural world. Help us to restore the garden you created.

O Lord, hear our prayer.

O Lord, you are our hiding place and our preservation. Let us not be like the mule, with no understanding. Rather let us look to you, in the loving example of your son, as we minister to those in need and pain, especially those on our parish prayer list, sharing with them the abundance of your love.
