Precious Lord, help us, citizens of earth, to keep your commandments, even if we are not Christian.  For we know that your law is only your wish of love for us — love for you, for creation, and for each other.

Precious Lord, help us, your church, to be your expansive vision of love in the world — love for you, for creation, and each other.

Precious Lord, help this nation, the United States of America, be a light in the world, a city on a hill, a shining beacon of your love in the world.

Precious Lord, as we move through our daily lives, help each of us to be aware of the needs of others — the weak and the poor, the sad and suffering, the sick and the fearful.  We know that when our hearts bend to one other, your love is most perfectly expressed.

Precious Lord, we love your beautiful world — the skies and seas, the mountains and

valleys, the forests and deserts, and everything that swims, flies, creeps and crawls.  Let us honor the natural world with love for it, protecting it against harm.

Precious Lord, all of us, at one time or another, are bent by suffering of body and soul. Be with us as we seek to lift ourselves and each other to the light of your love.  Hold us in your precious embrace, as we hold our neighbors, our friends, and families in their hours of need, especially those on our parish prayer list ….
