Lector:Eternal God, before we knew you, we walked in darkness, now that we have seen a great light, bless Michael and Greg, the leaders of your church, as well as our priests, Berto and Hugh, to help us to discern its meaning so we may be your faithful servants in this temporal world.
The LORD is my light and my salvation
Eternal God, in this time of trial for our nation, some of our leaders seem to walk in darkness while others see a great light. Our friends, families and fellow parishioners may not agree on which leaders are in the darkness and the light. Help this country to discern what your will is, let it be done and help each of us to accept it.
The LORD is my light and my salvation
Eternal God, we pray for peace across the globe. May those in harm’s way, be protected and comforted by safety of dwelling in your shelter. We pray especially for those in Puerto Rico as they cope with the earthquakes as we welcome Berto’s parents, Graciela and José, amongst us.
The LORD is my light and my salvation
Eternal God, we give thanks to members of the National Honor Society at Orcas High School for volunteering to help distribute during the Food Bank’s new winter Saturday hours.
The LORD is my light and my salvation
Eternal God, we pray for all who suffer in body, mind or spirit, from addiction, unemployment or homelessness, particularly those we now name either silently or aloud, (pause) and especially for those on our parish prayer list…; may they be comforted by your Holy Spirit.
The LORD is my light and my salvation
Eternal God, we pray for those who have died and those that mourn. We give thanks for their lives and pray that by the end of our temporal life, we may be worthy to be considered one of your prophets, teachers and witnesses to summon the world to honor and praise your holy Name.
The LORD is my light and my salvation
Presider: Eternal God, you are indeed our light and our salvation, accept and fulfill the prayers of your people as you know and love us, through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
