Lector : Out of the depths we call, Lord. Give us hope and direction during this time of fear and uncertainty. Help us to lift one another with tender words, prayers, and actions. The enemy does not discriminate; we cannot either. Help us to love abundantly, across the whole wide world.
We wait for the Lord; our souls wait for him.
Out of the depths we call, Lord. Although we cannot gather in your churches, we ask you to draw us close in your love. Let our bells and prayers and songs ring out with hope and healing for all.
We wait for the Lord; our souls wait for him.
Out of the depths we call, Lord. Be with our leaders, whom we depend on to make good decisions for our safety. Be with our scientists and the doctors and nurses and caregivers on the front lines, who sacrifice their safety to care for us. Be with the grocery clerks and delivery people and the cooks and farmers and all those who risk their safety to supply our daily bread. Be with those who step up to assist them. Help us to be one people, in love and support for all.
We wait for the Lord; our souls wait for him.
Out of the depths we call, Lord. The enemy is a social leveler. The fate of the many requires care and compassion for all. Help us to secure food, shelter, safety, and health care for all persons, especially those who are newly jobless or who lack the resources to help themselves.
We wait for the Lord; our souls wait for him.
Out of the depths we call, Lord. And you answer with spring! We are grateful for blooming flowers, singing birds, and budding leaves; we celebrate blue skies, soft rains, and the warming earth. We sing praises to your creation and vow to protect it.
We wait for the Lord; our souls wait for him.
Out of the depths we call, Lord. We ask you to breathe upon those slain, that they might live. We ask you to be with the despairing, the anxious, the fearful and confused, that they might find peace of mind and hope for the future. We ask that you be especially with the recently departed and their grieving families and friends. We ask that you be with those friends and family we now name, silently and aloud, and that you bend with tender care toward those on our parish prayer list:
We wait for the Lord; our souls wait for him.
Presider: Gracious God, we commend to your loving care all who suffer. Give them patience and hope in distress; strengthen and uphold them in mind and body; and grant, by your intervention, that all your people may be made whole according to your desire, through Jesus Christ, in the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
