Lector: Risen Lord, we give thanks for our Presiding Bishop Michael, our Bishop Greg, our priests Berto and Hugh who inspire us to believe rather than doubt, providing us strength and courage to face this pandemic and help our neighbors cope.
Protect me, O God, for I take refuge in you.
Risen Lord, we know that this is a challenging time for all especially our President Donald, our Governor Jay and our County Council. May they listen to experts, respect each other and cooperate to guide these United States, our state and our island towards a better future.Protect me, O God, for I take refuge in you.
Risen Lord, we give thanks to first responders, medical personnel, researchers and manufacturers who are treating the sick, searching for cures or vaccines and producing equipment to support that work. As every human being on the earth faces this pandemic, may we all learn to think about what is best for humankind, for our most vulnerable neighbors rather than thinking first about ourselves.
Protect me, O God, for I take refuge in you.
Risen Lord, we give thanks to all those in our church and island community who reach out with time, talent and treasure to help those challenged by the crisis either emotionally, physically or financially. May we use this crisis to find permanent, rather than temporary, solutions to existing problems such as homelessness.
Protect me, O God, for I take refuge in you.
Risen Lord, we give thanks that many will remember that Earth Day is this Wednesday April 22. May their witness and the pandemic remind us of the interconnectedness of our fragile earth so that both we and our leader will be inspired to take tangible action to protect and preserve this world for future generations.
Protect me, O God, for I take refuge in you.
Risen Lord,, we pray for all who suffer in body, especially from COVID19, mind or spirit, from addiction, unemployment or homelessness, particularly those we now name either silently or aloud, (pause) and especially for those on our parish prayer list…; may they be comforted by your Holy Spirit.
Protect me, O God, for I take refuge in you.
Risen Lord, we pray for all who have died, may their sacred souls be sent to your realm and may those that mourn be comforted by your Holy Spirit and believe though they do not see.
Protect me, O God, for I take refuge in you.
Presider: Risen Lord, hear the prayers of your believing servants, help us to accept your answer to these prayers as our flesh lives in hope while we serve you in our belief that the outcome of our faith will be the salvation of our souls, through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
