With much sadness we let the parish know that our dear Tom Murdock passed away on Friday June 30th at 4:30pm. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and holding the hand of Leslie and listening to some Irish music. Emmanuel is better for his presence amongst us, for the many gifts he shared with us; gifts of contemplative practices, fellowship, service to those in need, Education for Ministry, worship… so many things Tom was for Emmanuel. We will miss you dear Tom! Fr. Berto and Fr. Hugh were able to visit him and share the prayers at the time of death (“last rites”).
Let us pray, Tom, our companion in faith and brother in Christ, we entrust you to God. Go forth from this world: in the love of God who created you; in the mercy of Jesus Christ who died for you; in the power of the Holy Spirit who strengthens you, at one with all the faithful, living and departed. May you rest in peace and rise in the glory of your eternal home, where grief and misery are banished, and light and joy abide. Amen.
Dear Leslie our prayers with you and the family Merciful God, whose Son Jesus wept at the death of Lazarus: look with compassion on all who are bound by sorrow and pain through the death of Tom, a loved one. Comfort them, grant them the conviction that all things work together for good to those who love you, and help them to find sure trust and confidence in your resurrection power; through Jesus Christ our deliverer. Amen.
