Dearest Lord, anticipating the light that is to come, we ask that the world’s leaders be inspired by compassion to seek peace and justice for all people. We pray especially for those fleeing oppression, violence, and hunger, that they may find safe haven, food, and warmth.
In Christ we pray.
Dearest Lord, we are glad for your confidence that those of us who begin good works will bring them to completion in Christ. Be with our priests, Berto and Hugh, our vestry, our staff, and the members of Emmanuel Church as we discern and do your work in the Orcas Island community and beyond.
In Christ we pray.
Dearest Lord, be with the leaders of our nation, especially members of Congress and the Supreme Court, that they might seek the highest good for the greatest number as they determine the course of our nation.
In Christ we pray.
Dearest Lord, you promise that the rough ways shall be made smooth. We ask this especially for those suffering hunger, homelessness, and injustice. May they find comfort, sustenance and safety in Christ and the compassionate hearts of their neighbors.
In Christ we pray.
Dearest Lord, the glory of your creation is ever present in the skies, waters, and earth that is our home. Even now, in darkest December, the roots of glorious rebirth stir under our feet. Help us to protect and nurture the world for the miracle it is.
In Christ we pray.
Dearest Lord, you beseech us to take off the garments of sorrow and affliction and put on the beauty of the glory of God. Be with our brothers and sisters suffering illness and injury. Be with those whose hearts are heavy with sadness, fear, anger, and uncertainty. Be with those suffering addiction. Be with the recently departed and their grieving families. Be especially with those we now name, silently and aloud (pause), including those on our parish prayer list… (Please read slowly) … and those for whom no one prays.
In Christ we pray.
