Spirit of Love, we believe there is Grace in the world, if only we let
ourselves receive it. May we find ourselves in that Grace and be a conduit of
it to the world at the same time, for we are all one body.
We open ourselves to Grace.
Spirit of Love, in these times of change and fear, may we be bold and step
out of our comfort zones to help our fellow human beings in new ways. May
those who feel anxiety because of who and where they are, find loving
comfort, shelter, and hope. May our leaders humble themselves to find ways
to work together for the good of our nation and the entire world.
We open ourselves to Grace.
Spirit of Love, we are so grateful for our church, Emmanuel, for our priests
Berto and Hugh, for the love that is shown every day, for the opportunities
to grow spiritually that we find here. May we hold each other tenderly in our
thoughts.
We open ourselves to Grace.
Spirit of Love, everywhere we look there is beauty, no matter the season, no
matter the place. If we do not see beauty, we are not looking closely enough.
May our eyes look outward with the spirit of Love and let the earth’s beauty
touch us.
We open ourselves to Grace.
Spirit of Love, we hold in our hearts the people in Southern California who
have lost their homes and jobs due to the fires. We also pray for those people
otherwise affected by illness, poverty, addiction, emotional trauma, and lack
of employment and housing, particularly those we now name silently or
aloud (pause to name silently or aloud)… and especially for those on our parish
prayer list (say the names together slowly… and those for whom no one
prays; may they be comforted by your Holy Spirit.
We open ourselves to Grace.
Spirit of Love, we remember our loved ones who have left us through death,
and we are filled with love for them, even as we grieve. May those who grieve
find comfort in your Love and ours.
We open ourselves to Grace.
