Oh Luminous Mystery: The world still does not know
you, but we desire to know you and to live according to your
precepts. Help us to love one another as you have taught. Help
us to see beyond boundaries, genders, and other limiting
definitions, that we may become truly co-creators of a Great
Community of unbounded Love.
Let the power of your love illumine the darkest corners
of our hearts that we may reach to all with unbounded trust
and joy.
We pray for all spiritual leaders, welcoming the return of our
priests, Berto and Hugh, and praying for them and all those they
love with fullest hearts. In equal measure we pray for our Bishop,
Phillip, our Presiding Bishop, Sean, and spiritual leaders
everywhere. We pray that they all come to hear and embrace the
unbounded love of all your creation, as you have taught.
Let the power of your love illumine the darkest corners of
our hearts that we may reach to all with unbounded trust
and joy.
We pray for government officials that they might recognize the
truly spiritual side of their service. We pray fervently for our
President, the Congress, and the Supreme Court of the United States, and State and Local governments throughout the land. May
they foster choices that serve the best interests of the people and
the earth itself, leading with wisdom and altruism.
Let the power of your love illumine the darkest corners of
our hearts that we may reach to all with unbounded trust
and joy.
We pray for countries at war, and countries afflicted by natural
disasters. May those empowered to help rush to their aid, and
may we at home keep our prayers steady and strong.
May we find effective ways to share our resources for the good of
others and to offer a helping hand whenever possible.
Let the power of your love illumine the darkest corners of
our hearts that we may reach to all with unbounded trust
and joy.
We pray for all those in our community in need of prayer and
help—for families struggling with emotional difficulties, and all
those suffering from addictions, homelessness, loneliness or other
forms of isolation. May they know love and peace. We pray now
for those on our parish prayer list:… And let us take time now to pray together for special
intentions known privately to us [long pause for people to mention these
silently or aloud] and any others in need of prayer [pause]. May all
be delivered from whatever keeps them from knowing you, oh
Beloved One.
Let the power of your love illumine the darkest corners of
our hearts that we may reach to all with unbounded trust
and joy.
And we pray for the recently departed, and those who love them.
May aching hearts be soothed by the certain knowledge of your
eternal love. AMEN.
