Oh Great Mystery, in these times of spiraling
confusion, we joyously celebrate all that is good. We thank you
for one another, our families, our community, our priests, Berto
and Hugh, and spiritual leaders throughout the world who truly
honor the spirit of love that is our touchstone.
Let us live the path of love with every heartbeat.
Oh Great Mystery, we ask wisdom and guidance for political
leaders of every stripe. May they see that what is good for their
own people is good for the world. May they recognize the deep
relatedness we all share over time and territory and act in the
interests of one great family. We especially pray that peace prevail
in Ukraine, Gaza, and all warring countries.
Do not refuse the one who speaks, the one who calls to you.

Oh Great Mystery, you have created all the races, genders, all
creatures—from the whales of the deep, to the tiniest one-celled
being. The trees and flowers—even the rocks—extol you through
myriad forms and colors. The seas sing your holy names—in
love, and in sorrow. The winds shout to you and whisper gentle
prayers in summer breezes. We are so grateful for all this wonder,
and we thank you, and we promise to be better stewards of these
great gifts, this beautiful world, and all its creatures.

Oh Great Mystery, our community rejoices in the summer we
have had, and we pray for all whose summers have been blighted
by extreme heat, fires, floods and other natural disasters, . We
thank you for the beauty of our days, the brilliance of the night
sky, and the talents of our many artists, who have done so much
to make this summer particularly beautiful. The musical offerings
at noon concerts and the chamber music festival will sing in our
hearts through the dark of winter.

And oh Great Mystery, Jeremiah reminds us that your love is the
water of a spring that never fails. Let us trust in that water; let us
drink of it and share it freely as we reach out to those whose lives
are in disruption because of abuse, addiction, poverty, or illness.
Guide us as we share our lives, our love, and our resources in
ways that are both comfortable and comforting.
