Loving God, we give thanks for your church and all ministers, especially our Presiding Bishop Sean, our Bishop Philip, our priests Berto and Hugh as well as Christi who is with us today. As we remember our leaders, who spoke the word of God to us; consider their way of life, and imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
Loving God, we give thanks for this nation and all leaders, elected and appointed, national and local. May we remember our own biases and failings as we pray for peace and justice. The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
Loving God, we give thanks for this fragile earth and its beauty. As we remember those in harms way from terrorism or war and those that suffer from natural disaster, help us to recall the suffering that our ancestors and we ourselves cause to others. We pray for peace and security for all. The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
Loving God, we give thanks for Orcas Island and the surrounding Salish Sea. As we remember the many visitors who have and will be on our shores, help us to not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing so we may have entertained angels without knowing it.
The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
Loving God, we give thanks for Orcas Island school administrators, teachers, staff as the school year begins this week. We ask that students have an enjoyable and enriching learning experience this year.
The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
Loving God, we give thanks for every human being. Help us to remember that we can bring comfort to those near to us as we are your temporal servants. We remember and pray for all who suffer in body, mind or spirit, from addiction, unemployment, mental illness or homelessness, particularly those we now name either silently or aloud, (pause) and especially for those on our parish prayer list… and those for whom no one prays; asking that they be comforted by your Holy Spirit. The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
Loving God, we give thanks for the lives of the departed and their caregivers. We remember them with love.
The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
