We Pray for the World and the Church

Please stand as you are able as the Intercessor leads us in prayer.

Intercessor Lord, we give thanks for your church, all priests, all believers, all seekers and all who will come to know You. We give thanks especially for Melissa who is with us today. We pray for safe travel and loving rest for Berto and Hugh while they are away. We pray that we may always love to do your will as your law is deep in our hearts.

Happy are they who trust in the Lord!

Lord, we give thanks for these United States of America. We pray that our leaders as well as all citizens remember that we all deserve respect, safety and security. As we remember your prophet Martin Luther King, Jr. tomorrow, may we resist oppression and secure all your children in blessed liberty.

Happy are they who trust in the Lord!

Lord, we give thanks for this precious earth and all its resources and wonder. We pray that we treat it gently by finding new ways to care for it to ensure a sustainable future for our children, grandchildren, and those that follow them.

Happy are they who trust in the Lord!

Lord, we give thanks for Orcas Island, our loving community and the surrounding Salish Sea. We pray that we help each other during these dark winter days with service to others and fellowship to warm our hearts.

Happy are they who trust in the Lord!

Lord, we give thanks for every person. We pray for all who suffer in body, mind or spirit, from addiction, unemployment, mental illness or homelessness, particularly those we now name either silently or aloud, (pause) and especially for those on our parish prayer list…and those for whom no one prays; may they be comforted by your Holy Spirit.

Happy are they who trust in the Lord!

Lord, we give thanks for the lives of the departed, for their companionship, love, and service. We pray that those that provide care, stand watch or mourn, are strengthened and comforted by your Holy Spirit. As we remember Saint Peter today, may we remember that he was not always a rock on which to build a church but someone who stumbled, acted impetuously, and denied you. May that remind us that You are with us not to save the godly and strong but to save the weak and the sinful.

Happy are they who trust in the Lord!
