O God, we give thanks for your church, all believers, all seekers, and all priests. We come to church for many reasons including to be reminded that Peter said that they do not follow cleverly devised myths so our faith may be strengthened.

Jesus said “Get up and do not be afraid.”

O God, we give thanks for these United States of America. In these difficult times, we pray for our country, our leaders, our citizens, our immigrants and all who want to call this country home. We pray that you will answer our prayer in faith knowing that You ask us in return to be part of the answer to our prayer.

Jesus said “Get up and do not be afraid.”

O God, we give thanks for this beautiful earth and all inhabitants. We ask that those in harm’s way from war, famine, floods, fire and other calamities be protected and comforted.

O God, we give thanks for this island and the surrounding waters. As we approach next week’s annual meeting, we give thanks to those completing their terms of service as well as those who have volunteered to follow in their footsteps.

O God,  we pray for victims of senseless violence as well as for all who suffer in body, mind or spirit, from addiction, unemployment, mental illness or homelessness, particularly those we now name either silently or aloud, (pause) and especially for those on our parish prayer list… those for whom no one prays; may they be comforted by your Holy Spirit.

O God, we give thanks for the lives of those who have died. We pray for strength of faith for the dying, faithful compassion for caregivers and hospice workers, and thoughtful intervention by medical professionals.
