We Pray for the World and the Church

My Lord and my God, we give thanks for our belief though we do not see you, we love you as we know you love us. We ask that all religious leaders have clear conviction to live a Christian life so to inspire us to be Christ’s servants.

Protect me, O God, for I take refuge in you.

My Lord and my God, we give thanks for this nation and every resident. We ask that we see the dignity of every human being and we pray that our leaders will do your will.

Protect me, O God, for I take refuge in you.

My Lord and my God, we give thanks for this beautiful earth and every person, tribe and nation. We pray for peace throughout the world both in war torn countries we hear about daily and in war torn countries that are far removed by distance and lack of information. We ask that the Holy Spirit protect and comfort those in harm’s way.

Protect me, O God, for I take refuge in you.

My Lord and my God, we give thanks for Orcas Island, our neighboring islands and the surrounding Salish Sea. We pray for wisdom as we cast ballots in both the OPALCO and County

special elections.

Protect me, O God, for I take refuge in you.

My Lord and my God, we give thanks for the lives of our families, friends and neighbors. We pray for all who suffer in body, mind or spirit, from accident, addiction, unemployment, mental illness, seemingly random violence, or homelessness, particularly those we now name either silently or aloud, (pause) and especially for those on our parish prayer list… Bill & Jane, Heather, Jan, Cheryl, Ian, James, Dick, Renee, John, Nick, Sara, David, The Rev. Pam Tinsley, Laura and Sherwood (Dart), and Skipper (James Lawrence), Cynthia & Bruce, Wes & Carol, The Rev. Bruce, Helen, Diane, Chris, Lynn, Margaret, Sam, Maria, Ali, Debbie, Carol, Julia, Catherine, Angie and Jeff, and those for whom no one prays; may they be comforted by your Holy Spirit.

Protect me, O God, for I take refuge in you.

My Lord and my God, we give thanks for the lives of the departed as well as those near death. We hold them in love as we know you welcome them in love. We ask for comfort for those that mourn.

Protect me, O God, for I take refuge in you.

If you would like your name printed in the bulletin, please let the parish office know.

Let us pray for those celebrating birthdays this week.

O God, our times are in your hand:  Look with favor, we pray, on your servants Berto Gándara (4/15), Beth Lorenzen (4/16), and Gil Blinn (4/18) as they begin another year. Grant that they may grow in wisdom and grace, and strengthen their trust in your goodness all the days of their life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Let us pray for those celebrating anniversaries this week.

Grant, O God, in your compassion, that Madeline Sheplor & Charlie Jabbora (4/12) and Patrick Bennett & Jenny Hovelman (4/18) may grow in forgiveness, loyalty, and love; and come at last to the eternal joys which you have promised through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
