Dear Creator, Great Mystery-We bow before you, our threadbare souls reach out to you. The mystery of existence, of the rise and fall of nations, and the smoky darkness of suffering is almost too much to bear. We yearn for the healing of nations, for the fractured earth, and for sentient beings everywhere. And at the same time we rejoice in the beauty all around us, and feel much gratitude for all that makes this possible. Every unfurling flower, every fledgling, the summer rain and ocean breezes—indeed all things—are expressions of undying, purest love. We celebrate that love, even at a distance, and we grieve for those whom we feel helpless to assist.
May all drink from the wellsprings of compassion, and act with loving kindness toward everyone.
We pray fervently and in deepest gratitude for spiritual leaders everywhere. Especially do we pray for our beloved priests, Berto and Hugh, our Bishop, Greg, and our Presiding Bishop, Michael. Do not let them become over-weary in their service—they are carriers of your truest teachings and shed light on the darkest paths.
May all drink from the wellsprings of compassion, and act with loving kindness toward everyone.
The leaders of governments and nations everywhere are facing great difficulties. Too numerous to name here, we humbly ask that they find their way around and through obstacles to clarity and wisdom, and find ways to implement policies that benefit all. We are very grateful for those who provide strong leadership and guidance in times of peril, including our military and police forces, most of whom act in kind responsibility toward the people they serve.
May all drink from the wellsprings of compassion, and act with loving kindness toward everyone.

Here in our island community, we have much to be grateful for. We mention the Food Bank, the Family Resource Center, and all who are organizing better ways to help those in need. We are thankful to all who are working to sustain and curate the cultural expression and need of our community: among them the Library, the Orcas Center, and the Historical Museum. We pray for the health and well being of  shopkeepers and restaurant workers and all who serve in the community. We bless all who are doing their best to assure safety and well being in so many different ways. We pray that those visiting the island will maintain necessary physical distance and wear masks, just as we who live here are doing. We pray for all those suffering from illness of every kind, and we pray also for all those who care for them, both professionally and at home. We pray for those whose racial background has limited their opportunities, and strive to make amends in every possible way. We pray…and we pray.
May all drink from the wellsprings of compassion, and act with loving kindness toward everyone.
And of great importance are those on our Parish Prayer List, those in special need at this time.
We mention here: … and for all those for whom no one prays, and other special intentions. (pause) We also ask comfort for those who are frightened, those who are alone, and those who grieve recent deaths and losses. May all benefit from the certain knowledge of your infinite love.
Officiant: Hear these, the prayers of your people. Like our church’s flags, proudly raised, let us all be beacons of social justice and compassion. Guide and protect us as we navigate troubled waters, knowing that your love is eternal. We will dance and sing together once again, in celebration. In Jesus’ name we pray.
Amen.
