Mysterious Creator – we cannot help but feel great delight as May blossoms forth, and we feel freer now to gather in person. Our community is blessed in so many ways.
We are especially grateful for our inspiring faith leaders: fathers Berto and Hugh, Bishop Greg, and the Most Reverend Michael, and for the many spiritual beings throughout the world whose guidance sustains and nurtures a troubled world. We are grateful for our community, one where kindness, generosity and tolerance dominate. We pray fervently that the teachings of Love sprout seeds in every hidden corner of our island life.
Holy Spirit we await you; show us how to protect your people that all may thrive.
We pray for the peoples still besieged by pandemic illness, particularly the suffering souls of India and Yemen. We pray for those without shelter, food and human comfort, due to war and famine. We extend this prayer to the ends of the earth in hopes that balance, wisdom and simplicity may prevail.
Holy Spirit we await you; show us how to protect your people that all may thrive.
We pray for our political leaders, especially Joe, Kamala, Nancy and Jay. May they lead with integrity and wisdom, keeping the highest good foremost in mind. We ask especially for the continued healing of the peoples of Afghanistan and trust that the gains made will not be reversed by the withdrawal of troops.
Holy Spirit we await you; show us how to protect your people that all may thrive.
We cast aside our self-interest and gladly embrace a community that upholds the good of all your creation. We pray for the earth herself. While fires, floods, cyclones, hurricanes, earthquakes, droughts and volcanoes are an inevitable part of the planet’s life, let the effects be mild. We pray that we humans, as your stewards, all take part in caring for this blessed land.
Holy Spirit we await you; show us how to protect this creation that all may thrive.
We ask special blessings for those on our parish prayer list who have requested prayer to aid them in the challenges they are facing at this time: … and for those for whom no one prays.
And in the name of our beloved Emmanuel community we join in supporting prayers for the innermost concerns of one another, now offered silently. (Pause.)
We pray for those who are lost and alone, for addicts and abusers and tyrants. For those who do not know you. For those who long for you, but doubt you. And for children everywhere.
Holy Spirit we await you; inflame all souls with your certain presence.
And we pray for those no longer with us, including Patty Basart and her grieving family, and for all who have lost loved ones. (Pause to reflect.) May all come to know the true glory of the resurrected Christ.
Holy Spirit we await you; hear our prayers and comfort all the lonely and lost. Let all come to celebrate your glory in the everlasting kingdom.
