Eternal God, we give thanks for the Universal Church and all religious leaders and believers. We give thanks especially for our leaders Justin, Michael, Melissa, Berto and Hugh. We ask for the Holy Spirit to be with all clergy and lay electors who will gather next Saturday to elect our next Diocesan Bishop to show them who is Your choice to lead us.
We trust in your love for You know everyone’s heart.
Eternal God, we give thanks for our nation and our leaders, civil servants and citizens. We ask for a balance between freedom, safety and security.
We trust in your love for You know everyone’s heart.
Eternal God, we give thanks for this precious earth. We ask for the wisdom to care for the earth in the same way that trees planted by streams of water, bear fruit in due season, with leaves that do not wither.
We trust in your love for You know everyone’s heart.
Eternal God, we give thanks for all nations. We ask that national leaders reject the myth of redemptive violence and strive for peace. We ask that those in harm’s way be assured of Your compassion.
We trust in your love for You know everyone’s heart.
Eternal God, we give thanks for all mothers as we celebrate Mother’s Day. We ask for the Holy Spirit to calm the expectant mother and comfort the weary mother, so that they and all mothers may relax in assurance of Your love today.
We trust in your love for You know everyone’s heart.
Eternal God, we give thanks for the life of every human being. We pray for all who suffer in body, mind or spirit, from addiction, unemployment, mental illness, racism or homelessness, particularly those we now name either silently or aloud, (pause) and especially for those on and those on our Parish Prayer List (repeat names slowly). … and those for whom no one prays; may they be comforted by your Holy Spirit.
We trust in your love for You know everyone’s heart.
Eternal God, we give thanks for the life of all the departed and especially Florence Nightingale who was born on this date in 1820. We ask that the dying and their caregivers, especially their nurses, be open to receiving the peace of the Holy Spirit.
We trust in your love for You know everyone’s heart.
