Hear, O Shepherd of Israel, we give thanks for your church and all faithful people. We ask that your church show the light of your countenance so that we may be inspired to do your will.
Restore us, O God of hosts.
Hear, O Shepherd of Israel, we give thanks for these United States and our leaders. We ask for a peaceful holiday season during this challenging time for families and friends who find it easier to see differences than commonalities.
Restore us, O God of hosts.
Hear, O Shepherd of Israel, we give thanks for this fragile earth and all creatures and people. We ask for wisdom for world leaders to find the path to diplomacy and peace rather than aggression and war. We pray for the comfort of the Holy Spirit for all in harm’s way.
Restore us, O God of hosts.
Hear, O Shepherd of Israel, we give thanks for our Orcas Island community and especially first responders and ferry workers who enable our life here. We ask that everyone on the island know your love as we prepare for celebrating Jesus’s birth.
Restore us, O God of hosts.
Hear, O Shepherd of Israel, we give thanks for this temporal life. We pray for all those who suffer from addiction, illness, injury, and pain, as well as those challenged through lack of adequate housing, employment, or food especially those we hold in our hearts [pause to name silently or aloud] and those on our parish prayer list… as well as those for whom no one prays.
Restore us, O God of hosts.
Hear, O Shepherd of Israel, we give thanks for those that have died. We pray that they be greeted by angels and those that mourn them be comforted by the Holy Spirit. We also remember today on the date of his ordination, Henry Budd, the first person of First Nations heritage to be ordained in the Anglican tradition in North America.
Restore us, O God of hosts.
Have mercy upon us, most merciful God; in your compassion forgive us our sins, known and unknown, things done and left undone; and so uphold us by your Spirit that we may live and serve you in newness of life, to the honor and glory of your Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Presider: Almighty God have mercy on you, forgive you all your sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen you in all good-ness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep you in eternal life. Amen.
