Spirit of Wisdom, you call to us from high places, from country roads and city streets, from all around us.
May we respond with understanding.
Spirit of Wisdom, we pray for our nation, and that we will learn how to respond wisely to the deep challenges that occur every day. We need discernment and courage to support those in danger.
May we respond with understanding and compassion.
Spirit of Wisdom, we pray for the peoples of the world, those whose lives are threatened or lost every single day, who have no food to sustain them, who live in fear every minute, whose courage far surpasses our own.
May we respond with understanding and commitment.
Spirit of Wisdom, we pray for all churches, and all places of worship and the people within them who seek refuge, peace, wisdom, and strength. We pray for our own church, Emmanuel, for our priests Berto and Hugh, and for our Vestry. May they find strength and wisdom as they lead us.
May we respond with understanding and steadfastness.
Spirit of Wisdom, we think of the earth, our home, and our responsibility to it. It is amazing in its beauty and in how everything is connected to provide sustenance to all living beings. May each of us, in our own way, take better care of it.
May we respond with understanding and creativity.
Spirit of Wisdom, we pray for those who are affected by social injustice, those imprisoned, and those who suffer from sickness, family discord, mental illness, homelessness, addiction, unemployment, or depression. We name them now, either silently or aloud (pause)… And we pray for those on our parish prayer list…and for those for whom no one prays, may they find healing and comfort.
May we respond with understanding and love.
Spirit of Wisdom, we remember those who have died and those who grieve. May those who mourn find solace and strength day by day, and may we be sensitive to their feelings.
May we respond with understanding and compassion.
