Spirit of Love, help us to believe that if we ask and allow Love to work in us, we can be reshaped into useful vessels to serve our needy world.
May we allow ourselves to be reworked in the potter’s hands.
Spirit of Beauty, as the season turns to autumn and activities begin to slow down, we appreciate the opportunity to notice our surroundings more, to listen more, and to be silent so that we might know what is important.
May we be humble before all creation.
Spirit of Compassion, the events of the world are never far from our thoughts, and we mourn the tragedies that happen daily, hourly even. May we find the action that is right for each of us in order to make a difference and make our hope visible.
May we find ways to go beyond our comfort zones in response to the needs of the world.
Spirit of Forgiveness, each day we feel anger, despair, and fear for what is happening in our nation. The divisions among us are overwhelming. May we humble ourselves and find room in our hearts for those we disagree with, for love is more powerful than hate.
May we ask forgiveness even as we forgive.
Spirit of Unity, we are so blessed to be a part of our church, Emmanuel. Each time we pass the peace, take Communion, or socialize at coffee hour we are reminded that we are one with each other and with our community and even with strangers across the world.
May we demonstrate that unity in our actions.
Spirit of Justice, we long for a just world. May we each look for ways to bring justice to those who suffer from hunger, homelessness, incarceration, bigotry, and unfair laws.
May we devote ourselves to making the world a better place for all.
Spirit of Healing, so many people we know and don’t know are in need of your touch of love. We name them now, either silently or aloud…(pause)… and especially those on our parish prayer list… and those for whom no one prays; may they be comforted by your Holy Spirit. May they experience God’s Love in the actions of others.
Spirit of Comfort, we are grateful for our loved ones who are no longer with us. We have been touched by their lives and their influence on us. Comfort those of us who remember them in love.
May each of us find comfort as we grieve.
