Dearest Lord, we come to you this morning with gratitude for the blessings of the Christmas season.

For the return of the sun.

Blessings and praise

For the birth of your precious son, the baby Jesus

Blessings and praise

For the sweet love of our families and friends

Blessings and praise

For the warmth of our dear church family

Blessings and praise

For the dedication of our church staff and rectors

Blessings and praise

For our beautiful church campus

Blessings and praise

For the bright light of the advent candles

Blessings and praise

For the sweet songs of the season

Blessings and praise

For the smell of fir boughs and the lights of Christmas trees

Blessings and praise

For the wonderful food on our tables

Blessings and praise

And for those who cook it

Blessings and praise

For the gift of the holy meal of communion

Blessings and praise

For the warmth of our homes.

Blessings and praise

For the beauty and peace of our island home

Blessings and praise

And the friendliness of our community

Blessings and praise

For our good health

Blessings and praise

And peace in our nation.

Blessings and praise.

Dear Lord, we call to your attention those who do not enjoy the many blessings of Christmas.  Inspire us to reach out and care for your people without family, or friends, or shelter, or food, or health, or peace.  In the tender spirit of your gift to us–a baby in a manger who would change the world—let us give of ourselves, at Christmas and always.
