Eternal God, we give thanks for your church and its leaders especially Terry who is with us this morning, Greg, our Bishop, and Michael, our Presiding Bishop. Give them guidance and inspiration, so that their words may remind us that faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

Eternal God, we give thanks for Berto and Hugh especially for Hugh’s leadership during Berto’s sabbatical and for the physical and spiritual rest that Berto’s sabbatical brought him. We ask for their safe return from Puerto Rico and look forward to welcoming them next Sunday.

Eternal God, we give thanks for this fragile earth, our home in your unfathomably large universe. Eternal God, we give thanks for the beauty of Orcas Island during this glorious summer and especially for the return of moderate temperatures. We ask that all islanders welcome Chamber Music Festival performers as well as patrons and not be overwhelmed by more visitors to this short staffed island.

Eternal God, we pray for all who suffer in body, mind or spirit, from addiction, unemployment, mental illness or homelessness, particularly those we now name either silently or aloud, (pause) and especially for those on our parish prayer list… and those for whom no one prays; may they be comforted by your Holy Spirit.Our soul waits for the LORD who is our help and our shield.

Eternal God, we give thanks for the lives of saints and all who have died. We ask that your Spirit be with those near death and those who stand vigil as well as comfort those that mourn the recently departed.
