Oh Holy One, oh Source of All that is—deepest truth beyond all thought. We sing your praises, knowing that the beauty and love in this world expresses your deepest intentions.  Even so, we slip and fall, and innocent beings suffer needlessly.  Help us, oh Holy One, to right at least one wrong a day, to practice love more fully in all we do and say.

You are a light unto the nations and we sing your praises.

We thank you for the leadership of our new Bishop Melissa, and for the creativity, wisdom, and guidance of our priests, Berto and Hugh.  We thank you for honorable people everywhere.  Keep them well for our sakes, and for theirs.

You are a light unto the nations and we sing your praises.

We pray for all who suffer from natural disasters, notably the unprecedented floods in California.  We praise and pray for the ongoing work of the Irthlingz, founded by Sharon and Michael, frequent and beloved visitors in our parish. We ask that their efforts to raise conscious engagement with matters of climate change and world peace be heard widely and acted upon in fresh, loving, and effective ways. And we thank them for their persistence and dedication to perpetuating the vital legacy of Martin Luther King.

You are a light unto the nations and we sing your praises.

We praise and pray for parents who are devoted to their children and who do all they can to keep them safe and free from harm. And we pray for all who are careless with weapons, who are so trapped in fear and misinformation that they are deaf to the voice of wisdom. We pray for caregivers and teachers and the many unsung heroes who devote large chunks of time and energy to helping others. May they stay strong and well, for they are much needed. We pray for those who are addicted to substances that cloud their vision, for those who suffer from mental illness, and for all others who need encouragement and appreciation.

You are a light unto the nations and we sing your praises.

We pray for our governor Jay as he strives to develop equitable housing and better situations for the downtrodden in Washington State.  And we pray for our President Joe, and our national Congress. May their members reach across party lines to create and enforce a balanced immigration policy in which all parties cooperate. May past disagreements be laid to rest.

You are a light unto the nations and we sing your praises.

And we are in need of special prayer as well.  We ask your blessings for those on our Parish Prayer List…

Together we join in prayer for the families of the recently departed that all might rest in the radiance of your eternal love.  May all those who long for missing loved ones […] encounter you through that peace that “surpasseth understanding”.

You are a light unto the nations and we sing your praises.
