Dear Father, Mother God,
We pray together for the concerns of this gathering of your children, for this church, this community, and your churches of many names working for the care of your people and creation.
Open our hearts to help others with the power of your love.
We pray for our priests, Wray and Kate, our Wardens, search committee and Vestry.
That they may be nourished and guided by your grace.
We pray for President Obama and the decision makers of the world.
That they will use their positions of influence to attack poverty, hunger and inequality of basic human rights.
Our Presiding Bishop, Katharine Jefferts Schori, has called today a Day of Prayer for South Sudan. We pray especially for the the people of South Sudan, suffering from the extreme murder and violence of increased civil war. And for the Episcopal Church of Sudan in their peace building work to create change for the country.
May the power of many people praying today bring attention and change to South Sudan.
We pray for those who have died, especially Don McClean.
We hold them in your heavenly light.
For those on our parish prayer list, and for each of us in our needs known only to you.
We pray for healing and peace.
Celebrant: You lift our burdens Lord, so that we may touch the life of others as taught by your son Jesus Christ. Keep us open to your call, so that we can respond with the gifts you have chosen for each of us. We become one family in your name, with joy and gratitude for our abundant blessings. Amen.
