Intercessor: Holy creator, great mystery…the world shudders in the darkness and sadness created by your own children. Help us all to find ways to live peacefully and generously.
You give so much—let us return that abundance freely and with joy.
Guide and support our spiritual leadership: our Bishop Michael, our provisional bishop Melissa, our priests, Berto and Hugh, and peacemakers throughout the world. Help us to see ways in which we congregants can fully recognize and support that which is good.
You give so much—let us return that abundance freely and with joy.
We pray for the leaders of nations and states, for governments generally, that they may perceive and hear the word of God and respond in ways that benefit our troubled creation. Let us live more simply and with less self-concern. Help our young people to find their way through jungles of confusion and misinformation and skewed thinking.
You give so much—let us return that abundance freely and with joy.
We praise and thank you for your many gifts so freely bestowed. We are grateful for one another, for our island community, for the beauty that surrounds us. And we are grateful to the earlier stewards of this beautiful island, the indigenous people on whose land we now live.
You give so much—let us return that abundance freely and with joy.
We ask special prayers for all those who suffer from prejudice of any kind—whether it be of racial, religious, or social discrimination. And we ask that your wisdom flow through those seeking political office as well as those now in power. Let all who would love you feel that abiding love. May we all be your emissaries, no matter how dark the night.
You give so much—let us return that abundance freely and with joy.
We thank and ask special blessings on all who contribute to the quality of life here in our community: the teachers, library workers, medical workers, the food industry, the gardeners and farmers, the performers and craftspeople, those who work with and support the non-profits, and all who inspire and help in hidden ways. We ask help for those who work on and maintain the ferry system. Let us not bury our talents, but expand your gifts that all might benefit.
You give so much—let us return that abundance freely and with joy.
We pray also for the restoration of the Episcopal Hospital in Gaza. May the sick and the injured find hope and healing, and those who tend to them be renewed by your love. May their urgent needs be met.
You give so much—let us return that abundance freely and with joy.
We thank you again for the beauty that surrounds us. And we are grateful to the earlier stewards of this beautiful island, the indigenous people on whose land we live.
You give so much—let us return that abundance freely and with joy.
We pray also and support one another for matters of special concern to us: (pause to mention silently or aloud), and together we pray for all those on our Parish Prayer List: …those for whom no one prays; may they be comforted by your Holy Spirit.
And let us pray for the departed and for those who love them…. May they know your tender mercy and find deep and lasting peace and comfort.
In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
