Almighty and gracious God, shepherd of your holy Church, expand the walls of your sanctuary to be a true house of prayer for all peoples. We pray for our parish clergy, and we especially welcome Fr. John Ng’Oma’s presence in our pulpit today, sharing gratitude for his time with us on Orcas.

Christe, eleison. Have mercy, O Christ.

Sovereign and righteous God, rule in the hearts of those who govern the nations of the earth. Move the leaders of our nation and communities to maintain justice, do what is right, and lead with integrity so that all nations may know Love’s way.

Christe, eleison. Have mercy, O Christ.

Creator of Love, whose Spirit brooded over the deep waters of creation, look upon our broken world and bring peace to places torn by violence, poverty, and division. Draw near to a world divided by borders and prejudice, and fulfill your promise to gather the outcasts, foreigners, and strangers into your peace, breaking down every wall that separates your human family.

Christe, eleison. Have mercy, O Christ.

Gracious God and Loving Counselor, we pray for our glorious island community and parish home. Purify the intentions of our hearts and words, that our parish may always be a safe haven of belonging, a refuge of grace, and living truth.

Christe, eleison. Have mercy, O Christ.

Merciful God, shadow and refuge of the hurting, draw near to all who suffer in body, mind, or spirit, and to those who cry out from the margins. Hold in your tender care all fragile lives, those waiting in darkness for your light. May they know you at your altar and within the fullness of your grace. We now pray for those on our Parish Prayer List… Bill & Jane… Heather… Jan… Cheryl… Ian… Dick… Renee… Nick… Sara… David… Pam… Laura and Dart… Skipper… Cynthia & Bruce… Wes & Carol… Diane… Chris… Lynn… Margaret… Maria… Ali… Debbie… Carol… Julia… John… Lalo…Morgan…Lynn… Mandy & Lara…Luanne…Christina…Joyce…Sally…John…Sparks… and those we name now either silently or aloud…[pause to state silently or aloud]. We also keep in mind those for whom no one prays, may they be comforted by your Holy Spirit.

Christe, eleison. Have mercy, O Christ.

Eternal God, trusting in your wide and irrevocable mercy that holds all souls, we remember before you all those who have died in the peace of Christ, trusting them to your eternal keeping. We give thanks for all your saints who have embodied your compassion throughout the ages.

Christe, eleison. Have mercy, O Christ.

Those who are celebrating birthdays and anniversaries are invited to come forward. If you would like your name printed in the bulletin, please let the parish office know.

Let us pray for those celebrating birthdays this week.

O God, our times are in your hand: Look with favor, we pray, on your servants Jan Cleveland (8/16), Christina Orchid (8/16), Sarah Pence (8/17), Carl Lewis (8/19), and Karl Hoagland (8/21) as they begin another year. Grant that they may grow in wisdom and grace, and strengthen their trust in your goodness all the days of their lives; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Let us pray for those celebrating anniversaries this week.

Grant, O God, in your compassion, that Noel & Mary Ellen Nesser (8/17) may grow in forgiveness, loyalty, and love; and come at last to the eternal joys which you have promised through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
