We Pray for the World and the Church
Please stand, as able, when the Intercessor invites us to pray for the world and the church.
Intercessor Holy Mystery, Source of Wisdom, we are so deeply thankful for all you have given us: beautiful nature, thoughtful and caring pastoral leadership, a caring congregation, and a lovely place in of worship. Thank you for these and so many other blessings—including the glorious musical festival.
Let us also remember spiritual leaders everywhere who seek to model the highest teachings for their followers, including those serving on the other islands in our archipelago Mothers Myra of Lopez, and Abby of San Juan Island, our new friend from Malawi, Fr. John Ng’Oma.
Let all glorify your name through deeds of loving kindness.
We pray for political leaders and all those in authority. Give them the courage and vision to be your hands and feet in the world. May their time in office be marked by growing understanding of the true needs of the people whom they serve.
Let all glorify your name through deeds of loving kindness.
We pray for the Holy Temple that is our distressed Planet Earth. Help us to live more simply, so that we may conserve resources, consume less, and share more freely what we have with those who face daily challenges of survival. Equip us today for the work you have called us to do beyond the comfort of our Emmanuel community. Give us the courage and commitment to live as you would have us live: caring for one another and asking little in return.
Let all glorify your name through deeds of loving kindness.
Help us to value others above ourselves and to listen with a genuine desire to understand. Give us the grace to serve one another and to offer encouragement to those who need support as they overcome addictions, heal family conflicts, and face every kind of physical and mental challenge.
Let all glorify your name through deeds of loving kindness.
We offer our prayers for all those on our Parish Prayer List …Bill & Jane… Heather… Jan… Cheryl… Ian… Dick… Renee… Nick… Sara… David… Pam… Laura and Dart… Skipper… Cynthia & Bruce… Wes & Carol… Diane… Chris… Lynn… Margaret… Maria… Ali… Debbie… Carol… John… Lalo…Morgan…Lynn… Mandy & Lara…Luanne…Christina…Joyce…Sally…John…Sparks…Paula & Ken… for those whose special needs are known privately to us [pause; to say silently or aloud], and for all those for whom no one prays.
Let all glorify your name through deeds of loving kindness.
We ask that your peace fill the hearts, minds, and souls of those who have gone before us and of those who mourn them. Pour your strength into our aching hearts. Be our rock and our fortress. Use us to encourage one another, to bear each other’s burdens, and to remind each other of your faithfulness.
Lift our hearts and renew our spirits, Beloved Christ, so that we may face our challenges with courage and hope.
Amen.
