We Pray for the World and the Church

Please stand, as able, when the Intercessor invites us to pray for the world and the church.

Intercessor:  Oh Holy Spirit of Loving Kindness, we take you into our troubled hearts. May your love shine within us in all we do. In you we take refuge, celebrating our oneness with another, and with you. Bless our spiritual teachers and mentors:  Fathers Berto and Hugh, our Bishop Phillip, our Presiding Bishop Sean, the Archbishop of Canterbury Sarah, and all our church’s leadership, as well as spiritual leaders everywhere who are trying to show the way of Christ. Keep us mindful that we are all your people, and are family with one another—even those whom we have never met.

May your face shine upon us, and enlighten our path as we work to glorify you in all we do.

Oh Holy Spirit of Loving Kindness, we pray together for government officials and all who serve the public, especially our President and his Cabinet and Congress.  We ask that they hear and respond to the true needs of all people.  May they seek diligently to find non-violent means for working with global and local problems.  May they celebrate diversity within our nation, free of unfair judgement and assumptions.

May your face shine upon us, and enlighten our path as we work to glorify you in all we do.

Oh, Gracious God, we are very grateful for all teachers who help children find their way in this world. We pray that they do not lose heart; we pray that students celebrate unlimited possibilities for good, for moving forward in a trajectory of hope.

May your face shine upon us, and  enlighten our path as we work to glorify you in all we do.

We ask help for all those persecuted because of race, nationality, creed, or gender identities and preferences.  Help those who persecute others to realize their error. Hold in your strong arms the oppressed and the abused, the poor and the unemployed, and all who suffer from social inequity.

May your face shine upon us, and  enlighten our path as we work to glorify you in all we do.

Oh tower of strength, give us eyes to see your hand at work in our world. Lead us and inspire us to become more effective stewards of creation.  Guide us away from unquenchable hungers for material gratification so that the greater good may be realized. We pray now for those on our Parish Prayer List…Bill & Jane… Heather… Jan… Cheryl… Ian… James… Dick… Renee… John… Nick… Sara… David… Pam… Laura and Dart…Skipper… Cynthia & Bruce… Wes & Carol… Helen… Diane… Chris… Lynn… Margaret… Sam… Maria… Ali… Debbie… Carol… Julia… Catherine… Angie and Jeff… John… Ida Rae…Lalo…Liz…Morgan… and special concerns known privately to us (silence), and those for whom no one prays.

May your face shine upon us, and enlighten our path as we work to glorify you in all we do.

Oh compassionate God,  we commend the dying into your hands. And we pray with full heart for those who are tending them. We pray for all who are no longer with us in their physical form, and those who mourn them, trusting we all may meet one another in shining glory, as we follow the way, the truth, and the life of love, as you have taught.

May your face shine upon us, and enlighten our path as we work to glorify you in all we do. Amen.
