We Pray for the World and the Church
Eternal God, in you we live and move and have our being, we give thanks for Your church, all who worship you and our ordained leaders Sarah, Sean, Philip, Berto and Hugh. We ask that we listen as they remind us that If you love You, we will keep your commandments.
But in truth God has heard us; he has attended to the voice of our prayer.
Eternal God, in you we live and move and have our being, we give thanks for this nation and ask that our leaders find ways to heal our fractures. We pray for wisdom to understand that war, cruelty and mass shootings are not the answers to global, national or personal problems.
But in truth God has heard us; he has attended to the voice of our prayer.
Eternal God, in you we live and move and have our being, we give thanks for this fragile earth, all nations, and every human being. We pray for protection and comfort for all those in harm’s way from war, terrorism, and natural disasters.
But in truth God has heard us; he has attended to the voice of our prayer.
Eternal God, in you we live and move and have our being, we give thanks for all who mother. We pray for those who gave us life, and those who love us like they did; for caregivers, grandmothers, aunts, mentors, and friends; for those who long to be mothers, those who grieve, and those who show up with steady, unconditional love and care. May they feel seen, celebrated, and surrounded by grace on Mother’s Day and always.
But in truth God has heard us; he has attended to the voice of our prayer.
Eternal God, in you we live and move and have our being, we give thanks for those who suffer in body, mind or spirit, from addiction, unemployment, mental illness or homelessness, particularly those we now name either silently or aloud, (pause) and especially for those on our parish prayer list… Bill & Jane… Heather… Jan… Cheryl… Ian… James… Dick… Renee… John… Nick… Sara… David… The Rev. But in truth God has heard us; he has attended to the voice of our prayer.
Eternal God, in you we live and move and have our being, we give thanks for the lives of those who have died and those near death. God of life made new in Christ, we believe you raise those who died, may we answer your call to the Church to keep on rising from the dead.
But in truth God has heard us; he has attended to the voice of our prayer.
Those who are celebrating birthdays and anniversaries are invited to come forward. If you would like your name printed in the bulletin, please let the parish office know.
O God, our times are in your hand: Look with favor, we pray, on your servants Mike Reid (5/11), Sue Askevold (5/13), and Scott Jones (5/16) as they begin another year. Grant that they may grow in wisdom and grace, and strengthen their trust in your goodness all the days of their lives; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Grant, O God, in your compassion, that (Insert names…) may grow in forgiveness, loyalty, and love; and come at last to the eternal joys which you have promised through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
